Nappy rash can be distressing for you and your baby. Their nappy area might be red, look sore, have spots, blisters or skin breaks.

What causes nappy rash?

• not changing the nappy often enough

• using too small a nappy that's rubbing against your baby's skin

• soap or detergent

• some medicines

How to avoid nappy rash?

• Leaving your baby's nappy off as often and for as long as possible so baby's skin gets some fresh air

• Gently clean the nappy area with water (avoid rubbing)

• Change nappies as soon as they become wet or dirty

• Giving your baby nappy-free time daily will reduce the risk of nappy rash, but...
