PeapodMats feature POD-TEX™️ technology that has been designed to protect the bed from all sorts of fluids creating a super-absorbent mat. The liquid is dispersed quickly between the top and middle layers. Unlike some mattress protectors, PeapodMats absorb the liquid, so it doesn't sit on top of the mat, wetting the entire bedding. Thanks to their grippy surface, PeapodMats don't move during the night.
🛌 What size PeapodMat should I order?
Small - chairs, armchairs, wheelchairs.
Medium - toddler and single beds, up to 4 years old
Large - single and double beds, anyone over 4 years old, co-sleeping
Medium PeapodMat is strongly recommended up to 3-4 years of age. Please keep in mind that these are recommendations only, if your child is large for their age at 3-4, you may need to consider a larger size.
Whichever size you choose, we highly recommend that the PeapodMat is placed slightly under the pillow.
🌍 Are PeapodMats eco-friendly?
PeapodMats were designed to be as green as possible. For this reason, the bottom layer is coated with TPU which is a green alternative to PVC (vinyl) plastic. It is also breathable but leak-proof at the same time. Just what you need!
🤧 Are PeapodMats allergy-friendly?
The TPU used in PeapodMats is a type of physical membrane which creates a barrier against dust mites over the covered surface. PeadpodMats prevent dampness and the build-up of debris in your mattresses, such as skin cells and sweat. PeapodMats are free from PVC and phthalates, which have been linked to the development of asthma and allergies. PeapodMats are breathable and prevent excessive sweating which can aggravate many skin conditions, including eczema.
🛏️ Do PeapodMats grip to all bed sheets and surfaces?
PeapodMats work best with regular cotton or terry bed sheets. If a bed sheet is very smooth, the PeapodMat will not grip as well and will move during the night. Run your hand across your bed sheet, if there is no texture, it feels very smooth or silky it may not be the best choice for the PeapodMat.
PeapodMats grip very well to carpets and upholstered furniture. If the surface is smooth (laminate/wood flooring, tiles, leather sofa etc.), it will not grip but will remain waterproof.
💦 How much liquid can PeapodMats absorb?
PeapodMats are extremely absorbent and will safely absorb over 1 litre/6 cups of liquid. To compare: the adult bladder can hold up to 2 cups of urine at one time.
🤔 My PeapodMat got stiff after washing, what can I do?
This could be because too much detergent was used in the wash. Just like regular towels that may stiffen over time, it is usually because too much detergent has been used and the top layer has built up a soapy residue. If you experience this, we recommend washing your PeapodMat with a cup of white vinegar and/or baking soda, with a thorough rinse. This should help make the terry cotton layer soft and fluffy once again (but if the mat has a lot of residue, you may have to do this a couple of times).
🧺 Can I wash the PeapodMat with my regular laundry?
Yes, of course! PeapodMats were designed to make life easier. You can wash your PeapodMat like a big towel. Wash with similar colours. We don't recommend regular use of fabric softener, dryer sheets, dryer balls or regular use of vinegar or stain removers. These products are known to reduce the quality of waterproofing. However, vinegar or stain removers may be used once in a while if you need extra help with your PeapodMat.
👶 Can I use PeapodMat in my baby's cot for sleeping?
No, we don’t recommend using PeapodMats for babies under 12 months old to sleep on, in a cot, Moses basket, or at any time unattended. Lullaby Trust's guidelines don't recommend infants under 12 months old to sleep with any loose bedding. PeapodMats sit on top of the bedsheet and although they don't really move, they aren't recommended for little ones under 12 months old.
We recommend using the PeapodMat for baby's nappy free time, tummy time, changing mat, burp cloth, car seat protector or during sickness.
☔ How long do PeapodMats stay waterproof for?
If cared for properly, PeapodMats will not loose their waterproof qualities for over 500 washes!
💰 Are PeapodMats cost-effective?
Single-use bed pads might seem cheap at first glance but they quickly add up to as much as £312 per year, when used every night. That's if you're only using 1 pad per night... While PeapodMats might seem more expensive, they are reusable and will save you money in the long run. A Medium PeapodMat will pay for itself in about 7 weeks and a Large one in 8 weeks!
